| On Sunday morning March 7, 2010, Calvin Ray preached.
His text was Hebrews 6:18-20 and he preached on the subject of "The Anchor Holds." There are times in life when we need an anchor and we are reminded that the anchor holds. There are important uses for the anchor. First, the anchor is good when the tempest, storms, come. Without the anchor the ship is not stable. Jesus Christ is our anchor. We may drift but the anchor grabs the solid rock and he will not let you drown. People may abuse us, our employer may fire us but the anchor holds. Next the anchor is good for the treassure or time of reaping. When we find a time of reaping we need to anchor there. People are drifting and looking for the presence of God. When you come across the goodness of the Lord, drop your anchor. Anchors are used for treacherous rocks. When a ship encountered strong winds and waves they still continued on because the safest way is to continue forward. Sometimes we get so low in life and think how are we going to make it and then Jesus comes up beside us and says drop your anchor here and I'll pull you home. We don't know the channels or the rocks to our home but thank God he does. And finally, the anchor is good for rest. When our ship is safely home then we can rest. There is coming a day of rest from pain, sickness and strife. But there are some that do not want rest because they continue to reject God. Will you be in that group that will crash against the rocks? You don't have to just accept Jesus into your heart. We are so thankful that two precious souls were saved. To God be the Glory!
On Sunday night March 7, 2010, Brian Baer along with the choir preached and sang about "The Glimpse of Glory." The service was out of the banks and people were up praising the Lord. It was one of those services where you just had to be there!
On Wednesday night March 3 , 2010, Howard Richard spoke. For his scripture he used Job 2:7-10 and he spoke on the subject of "Mrs. Job." Women love security of the home, from their husband, their family and financial security. There is no greater love than the love of a mother and there is also a healing touch in a mother's kiss. Mrs. Job was under alot of pressure herself. Not only had Job lost his 10 children but she did too. Have you ever wondered how she endured the pain and loss of losing her children? She first lost her security of her family by losing her children. Then she lost her financial security when all of the cattle, oxen and sheep were gone. Next, here sat her sweetheart with his head shaved sitting in ashes with boils all over himself. And then she said something dumb. She told Job why don't you just curse God and die. Job didn't get angry with her and neither did God. God realized that she had spoken out of frustration and heartache. I'm glad God doesn't throw us aside when we are under pressure and say something dumb. Job took his wife down memory lane and reminded her that along with the good there is evil. The Lord also reminds us where he brought us from. The ashes that Job was sitting on were from the burnt wood which meant a sacrifice which meant an altar which meant that was his link to God. If God forgives us when we say something dumb then why can't we forgive others when they do? Just remember that Failure is not Final.
